New home for Cowork

Anthropic's Claude Cowork is merging with Claude Chat, according to Ben's Bites. The newsletter reports there will be no separate tab for bigger tasks, and that connected apps, skills and context are available in a normal Claude.ai chat. It also states Cowork can keep working after a laptop is closed, and that OpenAI will likely follow this pattern by merging ChatGPT and ChatGPT Work. Claude Artifacts is also getting dedicated products for Docs and Slides, with Claude Design moving into conversations, the newsletter says.
Claude Code's latest experiment now has a name, Claude Mods. Mods change how Claude Code looks and behaves, and users can ask Claude to write them.
The Gemini API has two new Live models: 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking. They take video and audio as input and output audio, and are described as suited to real-time assistance use cases. Ben's Bites says a short test in AI Studio showed no hiccups, and that 3.8 Live is 7x cheaper than GPT-Live 1.
Jev, built by TypeSafe AI, is described as a new LLM killer model whose founder co-created ChatGPT. Rather than generating text, Jev creates probabilities for possible answers, for software needing quick judgments such as which API to call next, model routing, or trading bots. It is listed at 5x cheaper inputs versus 5.6 Luna, free output tokens, and 5.6 Terra-like performance on relevant tasks.
Union Alpha is a new stealth model available through OpenRouter, Cloudflare and other providers. It reportedly outperforms 5.6 Sol on the DeepSWE benchmark at 5.6 Luna's cost. Rumours describe it as a router, a GPT-6 variant, or another GLM model. The newsletter also notes a first chat that spoke well before revealing API keys in another session, followed by provider errors attributed to overload.
