OpenAI DevDay 2026

OpenAI's DevDay 2026 featured Dots as its biggest launch. Dots are described as friendly, always-on personal agents that users can message or call like a human assistant, and can name and give an avatar. A Dot can also message the user on its own, meaning it is proactive.
Underneath, a Dot is a never-ending chat with GPT-6 Astra that acts as an orchestrator, taking tasks, starting multiple chats in Codex or ChatGPT Work to complete them, and reporting status. It stays in the ChatGPT sidebar on mobile, web or desktop, and uses its own computer, so a desktop does not need to stay on. Pro plans include one Dot; the Dot does not draw from usage limits for now, though chats it spawns for work do use usage. The report notes Dots have no clear way to add markdown personality or memory files like OpenClaw, and feel tool-dependent, starting with calendar and email.
Other DevDay highlights: GPT-6.1 Sol, described as an upgrade over GPT-5.6 Sol; a Pro 500 plan alongside Pro 100 and Pro 200, with usage limits set as 5x, 10x and 25x the $20 Plus plan, meaning $200 plan users take a hit but receive one-time credits; Sign in with ChatGPT, letting developers apply to add it so users can pay for AI features; Plugins, OpenAI's latest version of apps inside ChatGPT; ChatGPT Space, a Notion-like document workspace shareable with agents and teams; and Ultrafast, which makes GPT-6 Astra work 8x faster while using 6x normal usage.
Google released benchmark scores for Gemini 4 Argon, its new model, which is not available to use yet; the scores appear better than GPT-6 Astra and Opus 5.5, and promo pricing is the same as Sol. Meta added Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks, Klaviyo and more connectors so Muse can help run a small business.
In the feed: OpenAI's Decisions API uses GPT-6 Luna to classify data from a defined question and possible answers, roughly 10x faster than normal Luna calls but not as cheap as Jev, and OpenRouter has its own version. Codex cloud now has reusable environments. Cloudflare's new CLI covers its whole API and is built for agents. Claude Code can now build evals and hill climb on them. Pi now supports MCP. Robinhood plans to let users build agents that can trade on their behalf.
