Vibe gets to work.

Collected Oct 1, 2026

Mistral AI has launched Vibe, described as a unified AI agent for long-running, multi-step work and coding. According to Mistral, Le Chat is now Vibe, with one agent and one licence across work and code, and every conversation, setting and plan carried over.

Vibe offers Work Mode on web and mobile for multi-stage tasks such as inbox and calendar catch-up, research, document drafting and scheduled recurring processes. Mistral says Work Mode maps out a plan and gets sign-off before starting, then works across connectors. Supported capabilities include enterprise knowledge search across Google Workspace, Outlook, SharePoint, Slack, GitHub and custom connectors; structured data analysis from databases or spreadsheets with charts and dashboards in the conversation; document and report synthesis through the Canvas tool; multi-step task scheduling; and reusable skills. Mistral states every step is visible, with tool calls and reasoning chains expandable.

Code Mode launches remote coding agents from a dedicated web surface, where users connect to GitHub, manage projects and start sessions through to a pull request. Mistral says sessions run in an isolated sandbox, can run in parallel, can persist while a machine is off, and can be triggered from third-party apps such as Slack (coming in June), a code editor or the Vibe CLI.

A new Mistral Vibe extension for VS Code brings the coding agent into a side panel, running on the same harness as the CLI. Vibe CLI updates include skills as slash commands, custom modes and subagents, an editable plan before runs, multiple-choice questions mid-run, session-scoped permissions, and /teleport to move a live session between terminal and cloud.

Vibe is live at chat.mistral.ai, with mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play. Plans are Free; Pro at $14.99/month; Team at $24.99/user/month; and Enterprise with custom deployments, model training and dedicated solutioning. Mistral says Chat mode will soon be sunset, with Le Chat history preserved in Work Mode.
