Pinterest’s AI now turns beauty Pins into action plans

Pinterest on Tuesday showed a new feature, Beauty Guides, that uses AI to turn saved beauty-related Pins, such as hair and nail ideas, into actionable plans for salon visits.
The feature is powered by Pinterest Intelligence, described as the company's visual intelligence and generative AI technology. According to Pinterest, it translates Pins into terms and phrases used by stylists and nail artists that everyday users may not know, including "balayage," "root melt," and "almond nails."
The guides are intended to help users plan a visit by offering details such as what specifically to ask for to achieve a look, the time each part of the process may take, cost, and maintenance requirements, including how often trims, toning, or touch-ups may be needed. Pinterest noted that balayage can go into the hundreds of dollars.
The guides appear when a user taps the "Get the Guide" button within the app. At launch, the feature works across Pins related to hairstyle, color, nail shape, and finish.
