Subagents and web search in Claude Code
Ollama announced on February 16, 2026 that it now supports subagents and web search in Claude Code. According to the announcement, neither MCP servers nor API keys are required. Users can get started with the command "ollama launch claude --model minimax-m2.5:cloud", and the features work with any model on Ollama's cloud.
Subagents can run tasks in parallel, such as file search, code exploration, and research, each in their own context. Ollama said longer coding sessions stay productive and side tasks don't fill the context with noise. Some models will naturally trigger subagents when needed, including minimax-m2.5, glm-5 and kimi-k2.5, but users can force triggering by telling the model to "use/spawn/create subagents".
Ollama's web search is now built into the Anthropic compatibility layer. When a model needs current information, Ollama handles the search and returns results directly without additional configuration. Subagents can leverage web search to research topics in parallel and return results.
Ollama listed recommended cloud models: minimax-m2.5:cloud, glm-5:cloud and kimi-k2.5:cloud. It also pointed to further resources: "ollama launch" for more integrations, "Claude Code with Ollama" for basic setup, and the Web search API for standalone usage.
