Collected Oct 3, 2026

At the Capcom Open Conference RE: 2026, programmer Satoshi Ishida gave a presentation titled "The Outlook and Future of the REX Project, Further Evolving the RE Engine for the Next Generation," according to The Verge.

In the talk, Ishida described challenges facing studios that produce games at the scale of Resident Evil, saying that even simple tasks can become extremely time consuming. He said the solution is "successfully integrating AI technology into development workflows."

The Verge reported that the presentation framed the effort around a future in which Capcom creates games together with AI. Capcom has said previously that it will not use AI, The Verge noted.

The report also references Capcom's game Pragmata, described as being about the horrors of AI, while stating that in practice the studio does not appear as opposed to the technology.
