Mirror Particle is building a ‘world model’ of human behavior

Collected Oct 6, 2026

Mirror Particle, a two-year-old San Francisco startup, is building a foundation model that co-founder and CEO Abhivyakti Ahuja describes as a world model built from scratch to simulate why humans do what they do and how human behavior changes over time. The company provides brands with an AI engine that predicts consumer behavior and the reasons behind it.

Ahuja argues the current approach to behavior prediction, which relies on large language models prompted or fine-tuned to role-play as a target demographic, is fundamentally broken. She said LLMs are trained on hundreds of billions of data points and are modeling written language, while humans are made of visual perception, spatial reasoning and social intelligence. She said the company wants to capture the changing person through longitudinal data on how people change, what triggers those changes and to what degree, adding that not changing is also a signal.

Mirror Particle has raised an angel round and says it is close to closing its first venture round. It competes next week in Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco on October 13-15.

The startup uses a proprietary combination of data including clients' customer data, current events, pop culture and social media to model a demographic segment, with a focus on revealed behavior rather than self-reported survey answers. Its initial go-to-market strategy targets market research and brand and product strategy. In one early pilot, a well-known pet food brand asked what imagery to put on packaging; Mirror's technology found the imagery did not matter and that the brand was considered mass market and cheap, an issue it said would need addressing before sales would improve.

Ahuja studied neuroscience and computer science at the University of Toronto and later worked at Amazon Robotics, where she met co-founders Will Song and Thomson Yen. The company's long-term vision is to be the general layer for anticipating human behavior, moving from population-level analyses to individual-level insights. The winner of Startup Battlefield will be decided by VC judges on the afternoon of Thursday, October 15.
