BREAKING: Arsonist to write fire code at UN

Gary Marcus published a commentary piece dated September 22, 2026, headlined "BREAKING: Arsonist to write fire code at UN," which he described in the text as a joke, adding that it was only barely so.

A post from Kalshi cited in the piece stated: "BREAKING: Sam Altman to brief UN Security Council Wednesday on AI," attributed to a post from September 20, 2026.

Marcus also referenced remarks by Trump at the UN the same day about relabeling AI as Super Intelligence, writing that he hoped those were a joke too.

Marcus quoted Dominic Romano, founder of Drainpipe.io, writing on X. Romano's comment described an individual who he said does not appear to know much about the underlying technology and who he said is incompetently leading a company that is creating the perception of a security crisis while being run like an extortion racket. Romano compared that person briefing the UN Security Council to Al Capone giving a security brief to the FBI, and asked whether anything said should be taken at face value or seriously.

Marcus wrote that he understands why the UN had to give a microphone to Trump that day, but said he does not see why they chose to give a microphone to Altman.
