Simple agents

Ben's Bites published results from a poll on personal agent use that drew 996 total votes, with a walkthrough of setting up a new personal agent promised for a follow-up post. The newsletter describes personal agents as little more than a number of files and tools connected to any agentic tool the user chooses, noting that files provide context in a session and that memory is just a file the agent reads at the start. It says the agent can point at any tool, and that it does not matter whether the cowork or code versions are used.
The write-up also lists a line added to the author's AGENTS.md during an agent cleanup: questions are requests for an answer, not changes.
In its headlines section, the newsletter covers two new Mac apps: Meta AI, described as a ChatGPT-like Mac app not built for coding that bundles universal dictation similar to Wispr Flow, and Berd by Block, which combines a folders-as-project approach, characters as agents, and a board for pinning projects, agents, checklists and sticky notes, usable with codex or Claude Code subscriptions for tokens. It also reports that OpenAI paused improving its models for two weeks after the Hugging Face incident and amid signs that Astra may cross its critical-cyber threshold.
Other items include Ramp launching router.com, which it says picks the best model for a task automatically and claims 40% lower cost for the same outputs, with Stripe buying OpenRouter the same day and a leaked investor letter about the acquisition. The newsletter also notes Anthropic research having Claude design protein binders from scratch and accelerate chemical analysis, with Claude passing both tasks, and Slack now allowing multiplayer coding, building and agent work from within Slack.
